How
do I read the Yellow Name Tag?
|
What
is the "yellow tag" ?
The
yellow tag, found inside the pot of the plant, is the plant's
name tag. We typically insert the yellow name tag along
the side of the pot about halfway into the potting medium.
Please note, sometimes the
yellow tag is actually white. Also, if you
did not buy your orchid from us, your plant may have a different
type or color name tag.
How
do I read the yellow name tag?
Shown below are examples of a few different name tags.
In
Tag # 1, the Sc. is an abbreviation
for Solphonitis-Cattleya, which belongs to the Cattleya
genus. Click here
for our list of Abbreviations. The
rest of the name Cosmos 'Laina' is the name which tells
you the type of Solphinitis-Cattleya you have.

Tag
# 2 shows the tag for a seedling
plant, meaning that the plant was the result of crossing two
different parent plants. The x stands for "crossed
with". So Tag # 2 would read, Slc. Bright Angel
"crossed with" Slc. Tangerine Jewel 'Southern Cross'.
(Slc. stands for Solphonitis-laelio-cattleya.)
